Many times, we see webmasters having confusion regarding whether it’s preferred or not to redirect an old page having less content to a high quality page.

So, in a recent Google Webmaster Central office-hours hangout, Google’s John Mueller was asked about the negative effects of redirecting an old page having thin content to a page having high quality content.

In its reply, John said, Google looks at the content that it finds on the landing page. So, moving or redirecting an old page with low quality content to a high quality page is perfectly fine.

Well, actually you’re helping users by serving high quality content rather than sending them to the old thin content. So, Google will definitely like that redirection.
