Google’s Advice On Image Search Ranking

In this video, John Mueller advised webmasters to not just optimize images because they exist, rather do it with a specific goal in mind. To get better clarity of your goal, simply consider these 3 questions.
- How you want to be found in image search?
- What you expect users to search for? And,
- How can your site be useful to them when they find you?
Once you are all set with your goal, then go for these technical tips from John:
- Use high quality images.
- Place those images in a relevant and visible way in your page.
- Use great titles on the pages themselves.
- Provide useful alt attributes for the images.
- Potentially add captions to your images.
- Pick descriptive/good filenames for your images.
- Host your images in a way that they’re fast for your users.
