Http, https, www, non-www; all these versions of your website might be considered as different domains by Google. That’s why earlier, Google used to ask to add & verify all these versions in Google Search Console manually and to set the preferred version.

But on 27th Feb, Google launched the new “Domain Properties” feature in new GSC version. The best thing with this is, you won’t have to add all versions of your domain manually.

When you click the “Add property” option, it will take you to the new domain property screen as shown in the below image.

You only add the domain and Google will fetch all other versions; http, https, www, non-www, mobile version automatically.

The only requirement is DNS verification. As per Google, if you’ve already DNS verification set up, GSC will bring all other versions of your domain to domain properties over next few weeks without any additional effort from your end. But if you want to add a new domain, then you’ve to first verify the domain with DNS verification method only. All the old verification methods offered in the older GSC version won’t create domain properties.

And yesterday, a new information came up in Twitter. As per tweet by Andrew Hagemann, if you are using Google Domains, then you don’t even need to verify your domain to get the benefit of this new feature.

First, G Suite address for verification and now no verification required with Google Domains; it seems Google is pretty serious about domain business now!
