{"id":594,"date":"2018-11-09T11:38:53","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T11:38:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/?p=594"},"modified":"2019-03-18T11:59:43","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T11:59:43","slug":"google-improved-service-area-features-in-google-my-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/google-improved-service-area-features-in-google-my-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Improved Service Area Features in Google My Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <em>02nd Nov<\/em>, Google\u2019s Community Manager, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.en.advertisercommunity.com\/t5\/News-Updates\/Launch-Local-Service-Businesses\/td-p\/1843376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kara Jancourtz announced<\/a> that they are making improvements to provide better support for <strong>service area<\/strong> of business.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, in <strong>GMB<\/strong>, both store front &amp; service area businesses had only a single field in their GMB accounts to enter their business address &amp; to set their service area as shown in the below image.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-596\" src=\"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-1.jpg\" alt=\"GMB Old\" width=\"311\" height=\"556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-1.jpg 311w, https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-1-168x300.jpg 168w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Businesses who serve their customers at their locations had to select yes and had to enter details. They could set their service area as a distance around their business location. And once they filled up the details, it used to appear like,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-597\" src=\"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-2.jpg\" alt=\"GMB Old\" width=\"513\" height=\"177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-2.jpg 513w, https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-Old-2-300x104.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But with the recent changes, Google has set the service area as a separate field. So, now you\u2019ve two fields; <strong>business address field<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Service Area field<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-New.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-595\" src=\"http:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-New.jpg\" alt=\"GMB New\" width=\"446\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-New.jpg 446w, https:\/\/www.suvaance.com\/microblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/GMB-New-300x138.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With these changes, Google has made some modifications how you include your service area info.<\/p>\n<p>Now, you can\u2019t set the service area as a distance around your location.
