Better Use rel Canonical over Noindex"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To avoid duplicate content issue &amp; low quality pages from indexing, webmasters generally prefer to set <strong>noindex, nofollow<\/strong> tag without considering its impact on <strong>overall site quality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent <em>Google Webmaster Central office-hours hangout<\/em>, <strong>John Mueller<\/strong> said that, Google only look at the index pages when it comes to understanding the quality of a website.<\/p>\n<p>Also John recommended webmasters to use <strong>rel=canonical<\/strong> for duplicate content rather than noindex. when noindex tag used, all the signals associated with the duplicate page get lost. Google counts numerous signals from a page &amp; content being just one of those.
