Google on Mobile-First Indexing of Sub Domains

Recently on Twitter, Google’s John Mueller and Gary Illyes were asked about the mobile-first treatment of new sub domains. Also, they were asked about whether this change is content independent or not.

It's by domain, so subdomains are treated the same as the rest of the domain, and old sites moved to a new domain would be treated like a new domain.

To answer this, John said that the mobile-first indexing is by domain and so the sub domains are treated the same as the rest of the domain. Also, he said that old sites that are moved to a new domain would be treated like a new domain.
