Google Favors Dynamic Content Tweaking for Personalization

Recently on Twitter, an interesting question was asked, whether it is better to dynamically alter content on the homepage or redirect to an alternate homepage with personalized content in that for SEO friendly personalization?

To answer this, John from Google replied that it would be better to tweak the content dynamically rather than redirecting to new URLs for personalization as new URLs bring much more complexity.

I’d tend towards dynamically tweaking content rather than redirecting (new URLs = much more complexity). At least for search landing pages, the primary content should be equivalent, which is easier done through tweaking rather than new URLs. IDK about ads landing pages 🙂
