Does 301 Redirection Count as Backlink?
Posted On : April 4th, 2019 By : Dillip K Mohanty To : Technical SEORecently on Twitter, John Mueller of Google was asked about whether a 301 page from one domain count as a backlink to the target page of another domain?
And to provide clarity on this, John said, Google wouldn’t count that as a link and links to the redirecting URL could be seen as links to the redirected target. Also John said that the 301 redirection helps Google to pick the canonical URL across a set of URLs.
No, we wouldn’t count that as a link. It’s more a helper with picking the canonical URL across a set of URLs. However, links to the redirecting URL could be seen as links to the redirection target.
